Hey all. Been lookingto get 55gal for cichlid setup. Came across 46gal bow front that I really like-(have a 20gal) Will this size still be OK? It seems a little taller than a typical 55 long but I think is still atleast 36" long. Maybe 40"

What do you guys/gals think? Thanks.

Do it! I think a 46 gall will be fine, for now at least.

My cichlids are in a tank that is only 125litres, for now.

Thanks doris. I posted on your other thread about mail order fish. Please check.

Thanks again.

depends on what fish you wanted - you couldn't keep a boulengerochromis in there for example, but you could keep many others. what did you have in mind?

Lol, I doubt there are many people with tanks for an emperor, even if they are babies!

You are right, I disremembered them.

Doris, I did see your mail post. Please keep us updated as to the condition of the fish. Just as a quick wish list, I was thinking of getting 3-4 Yellow Labs and 3-4 Cobalt Blues. The stocking is going to probably more determined by space and my ability to get only 1 male Cobalt and atleast 3 females. I don't think either will get too big for 46gal.

Let me know if this sounds off base.

Thanks.

Honestly I think you are better off getting the 55gal, height doesn't count for much with a mbuna tank and they'll really utilize the full 4 feet. Especially with the M.callainos, they're one of my favorite species but they are a bit feisty and I would consider a 55 the minimum for them. :good:

Thanks for the info dthoffsett :) For that, I will release the restraining order ^_^ But.....you are still on double secret probation :sly: :shifty: :p
