I have a tank 36"l x 30" wide by 17" high, holds approx 300l. It currently houses my turtles but I am thinking of moving them to a bigger tank and putting my servs, firemouth, elliotti, blue acara and rtbs in the 300l, but with it not being the recommended 4ft long for these fish I am wondering if it is really suitable or would the extra width compensate for the length?

Mine is 48x24x24 and a single severum is the largest single fish I'll probably house in it. Doubt you're going to get anyone sensibly advising you to 'go right on ahead' to be frank.
