right well here is the tank just full of water and the old filter

new plants, background and filter

still needs a piece of bogwood in the centre, this is currently being boiled to release the tanins and then my betta.

Nice tank!! I've got an 11g hex and it seems to stay very clean and algae free with otos. You could have a few of them as well. Lucky lucky betta, most of them only get a few gallons at most.

Lol, I keep my betta with 3 cories in a 10 gallon tank; they are fun to watch Enjoy your new setup!

do betta always stay at the top or do they investigate the tank?

My betta actually shoals with the cories, but this may be unusual behavior. In a tank as high as yours, it's possible that the betta will stay at the top most of the time.
