Hi
I'm new on here so please be gentle as I'm a bit out of practice!
I have a 125 litre Fluval Roma which has been running for about 4 years so is well matured and fully cycled.
It contains 1 hoplo cat, 1 peppermint plec (think it's this but it could be a snowball plec), 4 black neons, 4 danios (not sure which ones but they are orange), 1 ram and a couple of kuhli loaches. I think I have room for a few more small fish though but I don't know what would be compatible with these - particularly the ram and hoplo.
I've had the neons (originally 6 of them), hoplo and kuhlis for about 5 years because they were in another tank before the current one. I did have another ram but I lost this along with one of the neons during my house move in July.
The tank has been a bit overlooked during the last few months because I had a baby in July (as well as moving house - never again!)so I want to give it a bit of TLC now I have a bit more time.
I change about 30% of the water every 2 weeks and ammonia and nitrite are both 0. I have real plants (although they are covered in algae at the moment and look grim), bogwood and a piece of bamboo in there. Will post a photo if I can work out how.
Anny suggestions for a few more fish. At the moment I'm thinking just to put a couple of guppies or platys in there to bring a bit of colour and because they wont overload the tank. Don't know if they would work with ram though?
Thanks
Eve

I agree that you could just about fit a few more small fish in there.

First thing I would do is give the tank a really good clean and bin the the algae ridden plants. If you get it looking pristine it might re-ignite your passion for the hobby. You could then get some easy grow plants like Java fern, water wisteria etc and decorate your tank how you want it. The fast growing wisteria should out-compete any future algae. Also, if you haven't already, put your lights on a timer, 8 hours a day.

Then up your neons and and danios to groups of six and add a couple of platys or guppies. Stick to males OR females so you don't have to worry about fry.

Then all you've got is half an hours work every weekend (or whenever), with a 30-50% water change.
