this is my low tech 2 foot planted tank thats in my bedroom, rescaped.

substrate: sand
fish: 4x female betta 2x honey gourami 6x harlequin rasbora 2x bolivian ram
plants : java moss, narrow java fern, green cabomba, cryptocoryne wendtii
Light : 15 watt
CO2: no
Fertilisers: liquid and root tabs

looks good, the moss should fill in nicely, what is that plant in the front right corner?

Quite a lot of the views will be from searh bots or guests who can't post if that makes you feel better

is the rhizome of the java fern planted? If it is then it needs tieing to a rock or bogwood or if oyu can then bury the roots while leaving hte rhizome on top. If oyu dont do this then it will rot

where did you get the narrow from? looks good quality.

haha.....no the rhizome isnt planted...only the roots

surprisingly, i got it from pets at home ...only went in for a browse, im guessing it was in one of the newer stocks because it was good quality

Need decent pics of the ovipositor/vent underneath. The males will be small and point backwards. The females (like all good english girls) will be quite wide and blunt. lol

Going by the fins (which is not very accurate) in pic 2 lights off The one on the left looks like a female and the one on the right a male.

Only the vent can tell for sure but they do look quite young still. No extended tail rays which more often than not also indicate male.

Ah ok thanks, looking at them now i can see that one has a wide blunt fin an the other has a small pointed one They are still quite young though, so i could be wrong.

Fins are not good for sexing really. They are a pointer but can often be misleading.

Underneath you will see something like a belly button. Males will point backward and be quite small. Females will point more down and be quite wide. When the female is in the mod it will be very prominant.
