Hi Guys,

6 days ago i added 4 platties in my water to start off the cycling process. They all seem to be OK, and so does my water. I test my water regulary and am finding that my nitrite levels are higher then i would like, ive cleaned the gravel out etc but i still cannot get the levels down. Does anybody know how i can do this??

Another question i have is with regard to one of my platties who is pregnant! When will she give birth, and how do i know when its happening? e.g will her behavior change etc?

Lastly i have put a couple of plants into my tank but they slowly seem to be dieing. Could this have anything to do with the nitrite in my water??

All help is appreciated!

Chad

to get the nitrite down you need to do partial water changes. how much water depends on the level of niotrite.

And the plants will actualy feed off the nitrite. the reason they are dieing could be because they are ajusting to your tank or because of lack of light, it would help if we knew what plant species they are

live bearers will go a darker colour around the belly region. this is the fry growing and darkening in colour, showing through
