Depending on where i read I get different answers on Bala Sharks and Cichlids in the same tank.

To start the water i currently have 2 Goldfish and a pleco and the tank water is holding. I could care less about the goldfish and will get rid of them eventually.

Currently 10gal tank but will be upgrading to a 50gal in a few months. also would start with smaller sized fish since room at first will be limited.

Please give me opinions on if the fish will get along.

Option 1
3-4 Bala Sharks
2-3 Cichlids (Blue Johanni Cichlid, Moorei Cichlid, or Demasoni Cichlid) yes i'll make sure they're all the same.
1 Pleco (about 1.5inches)

option 2
3-4 Bala Sharks
2 Shark Catfish
1 Pleco (about 1.5inches)

if you see a different combination that may work better please recommend.

thanks to everyone in advance

IMO African Cichlids (all the species you ask about i believe are African) cannot go with anything other than certain african cichlids.

Bala sharks can go with South American Cichlids, but those are more like severums, oscars, jewel etc. and then only certain types of south american cichlids.
I actually wouldn't buy any fish until you actually get the 50 gallon, the smallest bala sharks i've seen could use more swimming space than a 10 gallon, and you know that eventually even the 50 gallon wont be big enough for 4 full grown balas right? They can grow over a foot long.

what attracted me to those cichlids was the nice dark blue color. i've seen blue platty's (not exactly what i'm looking for) and Blue Gourami (all which were more ridescent with a hint of blue). Is there maybe another fish i might look at to go with either the bala shark or the catfish shark?

Well i guess beside the blue gouramis, you may look at blue rams or jewel cichlids but they tend to have a lot lighter blue colour.

Otherwise i'm not too sure, sorry i'm not as good with my SA large cichlids.

You could also look at rainbow fish, i know dwarf neon can exhibit a nice blue shine and they would work.

i'll have to visit my lfs and take a look at the fish you recommended
