well i just picked up a 75 Gallon High tank and i am in need of advise, i'm either getting an Oscar or Red Devil and was wondering what sort of bottom dwellers can go with either of the two.. right now the Red Devil is my choice but we'll see when i go to buy.

right now i only have an Emperor 400 but plan on getting another, i'm a firm believer in -there's no such thing as over-filtration- :p

oh and perhaps an opinion in substrate, i was thinking sand but i seen a red devil at a shop spitting stones around and it seemed like it was having fun doing it so i don't know

Thanks in Advanced

congrats on the new tank

a red devil would do fine actually but would take over a corner of the tank
natural gravel would be good and they like to move it around for their liking.
I think plecos would be a good solution for a bottom dweller maybe 1 or 2 would be good. good luck

pictus like to be kept in groups of threes otherwise they just hide

I would go for a Red Devil they are much more fun to watch and have. As for tank mates there is a large range of cats that will go with a RD but not with an oscar, hell i even keep CAE's with devils, are there any cats you have in mind that you would like to keep with them?

what about a shovel nose or do they get too big?
too big!!! Shovelnose (limas anyway) will get to around 18" so thats gonna get pretty crowded with an Oscar or Red Devil in there already!! :D

well hmmm, i think i might just stick with a red devil then, it hurts my head to think of something else to put in there :look: and being it's my 1st go at a real cichlid i'll just see how i fair with it
