Wondering what some good tank mates for tiger barbs .
tank is 180 gallon currently stocked with 6 tigers 2 clown loaches had 5 but 3 died due too ich and red tail black shark
Loaches seem ok still with2 ss they are schooling with tigers but i still want to add few more.
Gonna add 10 or so more tigers and a pleco.

So was wondering on another species that would go in here

Thinking green barbs, silver dollars, tinfoil barbs...
Other ideas im open too

Tank is liftly planted now but have 50-60plants ordered.
Have a pressurized co2 that will be added once plants arrive
Fluval fx5 filter so filtration good.

Most tigers will be fine with anything without flashy long fins. They need to not be small enough to be swallowed by tigers either.

How about boesemani rainbows...just seen them on the forums and insta love!!! School of 8-10 i would do

They should be fine. They're big enought to fend off barbs and their fins aren't too long either. A nice shoal of 10 would be stunning.
I'd love some pics of your tank. Do you have any?

None atm but will take few soon ...added my pleco tonight ...jerk uprooting few plants lol
He just a small guy though ..about 10-12 inches. Saved him from a 55 gallon tank.

Start with 8-10 more Clown Loaches and 6-12 more Tiger Barbs (getting other colour variants if that appeals to you, I think 18 of the same type would be great) before thinking about any new fish. ;)

I'm presuming your 180g is at least a 5-footer and probably longer, so you have the ideal tank to keep these big loaches properly, in a large hierachal group of 10+ in a setup with lots of current (10-20x real [not theoretical, most powerheads/filters run slower than quoted figues by ~10-40%]). Your shark-minnow will love this too.

Some time after the above have settled, you could think about a school of 8+ from the "Filament Barb" complex, which will enjoy the current and the mid to high-end tropical temps. Do not, I repeat do not think about Redline Torpedo Barbs, which need far cooler conditions on average to live anything close to their 8 year lifespan.

With that size tank I would get a minimum of 16-20 tiger barbs. That will really be a cool display! I'm guessing tiger barbs wouldn't be so great with a Honey Gourami would it?

I just purchased 8 boesemani Rainbows :)

I've got Green Tiger Barbs in with Rainbowfish and Gouramis without too many problems. You just need to make sure the Barbs are in large enough numbers just to be distracted by each other rather than other fish ehich should help to keep fin nipping down to a minimum.
