i recently set up a 10 gallon tank and i'm looking to keep honey dwarf's they'll be my first gouramis, i'm thinking of getting between 4-6 of them, i'd like some sort of catfish or scavenger to go with them, anyone have any ideas, i know corys fit but they get 3 inches and thats too much for my tank

All gouramis are territorial and need some space of their own. I would not put more than 1 0r 2 in a 10 gallon tank. As tank mates almost anything (but mollies) is acceptable. I keep my gouramis with a school of serpae tetras.

Hi,

For a 10 gallon just get 1 male with a trio of females you will have problems with more than one male over territory. Have you looked into the dwarf corys? corydoras habrosus would be a nice addition as would hastatus or pygmy corys. If you get 4 gourami you could easily fit a group of 5-6 corys in there.

Emma :)

Do you mean Colisa chuna/sota or Colisa lalia? Both go by the name 'honey dwarf'. Colisa chuna/sota, the honey gourami, would be fine as a trio (1 male, 2 females). Colisa lalia, the dwarf gourami, is slightly larger and I would only keep one male and no other gouramies in a 10 gallon.

For my tankmate suggestions: http://www.fishforums.net/Reccomendations-...on-t116208.html :)

edit: BTW, FISHLESS cycle before adding any fish (check the links in my signature). And don't put the gouramies in first - they should be added last.

Good luck and welcome to the forums! :D
