Tank Leaking... What Else Can I Do?

Well, a few days in the box and I have my first casualty. One of my big fat golden barb has died on me. To be honest it had a damaged dorsal fin before it went into the box. It was perfectly healthy before I drain my old tank. It sustained its damage when the water level was low. I guess it couldn't handle the stress of being in a box and a damaged fin. Nevermind. At least another week before they can go back into the big tank, provided it doesn't leak. The big tank is currently in the garden, filled to the brim, and no sign of leak yet.

Just wondering whether it could be due to the fact that I have air pump in the tank without a condensation tray. I wonder whether it is leaking because of the spray/condensation at the top of the tank which trickles down the back and onto the floor and skirting board. Perfectly plausible but this would means the design of the tank is sh!t...

Adrian, be careful with the plastic tub as some plastic is toxic to fish. Also either cover the tank up well or move it in doors, there's a frost forecast for tomorrow and if its a good one it could crack the tank. Mine did that last year.
As to the tank leak, it could be a very small leak or as you say just spillage over the top from surface agitation.
I would check the seals very carefully. If found to be at fault the silicone can be stripped away internally and reapplied without splitting the actual tank apart. I did this a few years ago and it lasted an additional 10 years. So its worth a try.
Not sure where abouts you are but I have a 3 foot tank in the shed that you can borrow if you wish. I am in Edwinstowe Notts, on the A614.

You know, that's a very good point re: frost. It's not so much the frost that I'm worried about, it's the temperature. It is a large body of water but if there is a cold snap it could freeze the tank and crack it. I shall empty the tank tomorrow if there is still no leak and bring it indoor/garage. There is still no leak so far so I think the "leak" is caused by the air pump.

Thanks for the offer for the tank. I think the box is fine. It's the lack of plants that is upsetting them I'm sure. Did a water change today and hopefully they will feel a bit better.
