Hi, 250 litre tank. It's suddenly got really.murky and dirty looking, I've lost ottos, guppies, rummy nose tetras and rainbow fish. All that's left is 5 black skirt tetras, 1 rainbow shark, 1 Otto, 1 rummy nose tetra and 1 rainbow fish.

Why?!?! My last water test came out perfec. I will.be getting another test done tomorrow

Every fish is doing it I have just noticed. What is that?

How many and how much water do you change a week? To get rid of the dirty water you will have to do a bog water change. Have you cicled the fliter?

Hi bliss, would you please complete this form?

I change 20% every 2 weeks. The tank finished its cycle about 2 weeks ago because I had tests done every 2 days for the 3 weeks it took to cycle it. I will get a test done tomorrow and upload a photo later on. This will have to be seen through a Flickr link

Chemicals I added are white spot treatment as one of my rainbow fish had some white spots and some people on here recommended I added some treatment. 26c (79f) is the temperature

3 weeks to cycle and 20% WC every other week. Doesent sound good.

Whats with the having a test done, when i was first running my tank i was doing a couple of tests a day.

At best a mini cycle at worst the people checking the samples aren't doing it right and the tank is bad. You need your own test kit fast.

I don't own a test kit myself. I'll try pick one up tomorrow

It's was a 3 week fishless and 3 week fish in cycle

This is where I did a water change to http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/78458866@N02/7190648394/

This is the colour of the water http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/78458866@N02/7190648394/

This is where I refilled it to and I will fill the rest tomorrow http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/78458866@N02/7190648394/

Ok, all the links take you to the same photo but it's easy to work out which is which

Don't wait to get the water tested again, do a massive water change, make sure to add temperature matched water, and add your usual water treatment.

If you have a hose and can match the temperature of the tap water to the tank, turn the filter and heater off, drain the tank to half full then add water whilst still draining so that you in effect have 100% clean water, add your dechlorinator and fill the tank BEFORE switching the filter and heater back on.

It would also be worth hoovering the substrate while you do this.
