Hi all i have a 10 gallon tank that is like crystal clear water,i bought today a 25 gallon tank and cleaned it really good, and filled it with water to start its water cycle and the water has now about 4-5 hours and the water looks reallly cloudy

i bought some sand and placed it now so that it cycles all together, and cleaned the outside glass with glass cleaner but still looks cloudy

could it be the white sand thats giving it that look or has the water not settled yet, or will it always look like this, i never had this issue with my 10 gallon tank, anything i did wrong or miss??

Did you rinse the sand before putting it in? A good general rule when adding sand and or gravel is to run water into a bowl or pale with the substrate in it and continue rinseing until the water running over the edge looks clear or clear enough. I

If you didnt rinse the tank i wouls suggest doing numerous water changes and slowly you will clear any floating particles that are in your tank at the moment. other than that i dont beleive there is a quick fix sorry.

Good luck

in my own tank it was tad cloudy until the sand settled too.

lol hey u know maybe that would of been a great idea, i was so excited to have my new 20g that i pured water>opend the bag of sand and pured it in just to wait 2 weeks or so for the fishless cycle lol

well i will try lots of water changes and picking up those loose bits of sand but also since my tank is so new iv read to speed up the process or the necessary bacteria you can add rocks n such things from your already established tank to your new one, is that true and by how much would advance it by, thanks again as always

i spent today about 3 hours cleaning that sand and it just keeps showing up cloudy the more i clean it so im giving it a rest for today but also wondering can i use real ocean sand, like just go and pick some up **Clean it** then put it in my tank? is that okay?
