I have a 125 gallon tank with 3 separate 22" covers and two strip lights containing 2 Flora Sun 36" MaxPlant Growth lights in each. The 3 covers have what appears to be plastic to let the light down into the tank.

These 3 pieces of plastic in a very short time 3 or 4 days after cleaning are right back to dirty again only letting about 1/2 the light through. I've thought about taking them out and replacing them with tempered glass. Does anyone have any ideas or should I just accept the fact that I need to take them off and clean them every other day. Even after cleaning they appear to be foggy...... Thanks in advance.

I have given up on cover sheets.... for the same reasons... ALWAYS murky and cutting out that expensive light :-(

I like the idea of replacing the lastic with glass. It should take the heat better than plastics. You might want to look for where the dirt is coming from. As long as the dirt keeps showing up the glass or plastic will get dirty. Glass doesn't repel dirt any better than plastic but it will be clearer than most plastics.
