Tank Cycling Question

This might sound like a daft question but is it ok to cycle a new tank without a light?

Reason i ask is im setting up a breeding tank which has been running since christmas day. There still seems to be a scummy layer on the surface of the water and im unsure wheather this is caused by the fact i have no light fitted yet. I should have it by the weekend. bloody holidy post

Nope no light needed, to reduce surface film try re-positioning the filter outlet to disturb it more

Nope ...unless you have plants in there ! (which in my opinion is a waste of time - during cycling that is )

Cool. Nope no plants in there yet. Will try repositioning the outlet and see how it goes.
