I have just cycled a couple of days ago, just planted it out, I don't know what the plants are just easy care, now for the fish ???

How much room do you have and what is the water type you are working with? I love my livebearers but recognize that many people do not have water that would work with livebearers. Please give us some hints here and we will be able to help you more.

I really like those rocks in there, where did you get them? Do they effect the PH?
I picked the rocks/pepples up one or two at a time while out walking my dog during the massive 42 day fishless cycle. I checked each and every one with vinegar, the ones that fizzed I discarded. I actually only used the rocks in there to hold the plants down :) (I do like them now you have pointed them out, thanks

I checked the ph and it hasn't been effected, but they have only been in there since yesterday.

Tank 80cm lengh
30cm depth
40cm height
96 litres according to the calculator on here.
My water is hard water (possibly very hard)
I was thinking of getting

galaxy rasporas
praecox rainbows
indian gourami
ruby barbs
some tetras ?????

I don't know if you can do it with that filter but it would be better to aim it across the diagonal of the tank to promote flow throughout the tank.

Beautiful tank!!

Looks like a Fluval U series to me, don't think you can do that with those types of filter.

OK, so perhaps directed along the length, rather than the width, might help.

I can make it so it flows across the diagonal of the tank, do you mean so the flow comes from the back left corner to the front right corner ?
If so, I have done that now, I did originally have the filter flowing along the back, but the flow really tore away at the long grassy things.

Do I need to have the venturi thing on ? Do I need to provide air to the water like I did during my cycle ?

The idea is to get flow throughout the whole tank, with no dead spots. Often we can do a lot with filter positioning to improve circulation. The venturi thing, that can be used to put bubbles into the water, is not needed. As long as you have good water circulation your tank will reach saturation of oxygen based on water temperature. With the bubbles going, it will promote a bit more circulation but that is about all the benefit there would be. I like your suggested stocking selection. The only thing to be careful about would be the tetras. Some tetras do not tolerate hard water very well.

Nice tank - its going to look fantastic when your plants mature - well done! :good:

Thanks, I'll check to make sure which tetras are ok, I am reluctant to take the LFS advice though, these guys are the one's that sold me some gelantine like balls 2 months ago saying they would cycle my tank in 5 days...........mmmmmmm
The only sound advice I have received is here, otherwise I would have ended up doing a fish in cycle and would have probably killed all the fish the LFS tried to sell me along with them ball things, their idea of a fish in cycle is keep putting chemicals in, $ and £ in their pockets.

Thanks.
