Hi, Just wondering if there is a general good practice guidance for cleaning.

I've been doing weekly water changes (~25%) since I've had the tank set up but lost my first 2 fish (Black neon tetras) a few weeks ago.
Water conditions rock stable since I finished cycling and stocking.

The tank substrate (sand) gets 'hoovered' as I take out the water.

Is it good practice to take out the planted bogwood and siphon around here as well ?

Or have I just been unlucky in losing a couple of fish within 6 months.

Your maintenece routine sounds good to me, I would put the fish losses down to bad luck and the fact that your tank is relativily new, and even tho the filter is cycled your tank will mature with age and become even better for your fish.

And if you can move your bog wood around to vac underneath it would be great because detrius will get trapped under there.
