I am currently changing some cichlids from one tank (8.0 PH) to another (7.6 PH), and the fish in the othe tank will be switched over to the one that sheltered cichlids. Since the diffrence in the PH is not really that high, will the fish be effected? Every other water reading is the same, including the temperature.

I might not be right but when ou buy fish you dont know there PH level and when you put them in your tank the level could be different so why should changing them not be ok.

And origonaly my PH level straight from the tap was around 9 and most of my fish died apart from a few due to that (I didnt know it was high) then when I got it back down to 7 (with some powder stuff) the fish where ok and they still are so I doubt that a change in PH will really effect them that much.

allthough saying that I am a total noob so dont listen to me :p

to be honest i have more reading to do on the pH of aquariums but a 0.4 drop i dont think should be a problem - only problem comes when u reduce it from 8.0 to 7.0 as i believe this to be 10 times in the difference of pH - and would be 100 times the difference if it went from 8.0 to 6.0 (i could be mistaken here) - but by adding tank water slowly to the shop bought fish (over a period of time (4hrs i do) it can be useful to observe if the fish get into distress
