Hi people,

I have:

4 neon tetras
4 female guppys and a baby
2 corys

Just upgraded from a 35 litre tank to a 90 litre :)

Just wondered what's the right amount of neons and corys as I know they like to be in a group

And which other type of fish would go well in this setup. Thanks

corys and neons, 6 of each is generally a good place to start. if youve got 4 females, how have you got a baby guppy ?

I would go for 10 neons and 6-10 Corys (depending on adult size). That would leave you space for one small grourami (for example a dwarf) and a pair of cichlids (Apisto. cacatuoides, for example).

There could have been males in the shop aquarium with the females, who can carry and use sperm from mating for 3-9 months after last mating.

Thanks people, my corys are quite shy. Will they be more relaxed when there's more of them?

Also I think my aqarium used to be salt water, it has a White bulb (tube) at the front and a blue one at the back. This won't bother my fish will it?

They are schooling fish, so yes. I'm surprised you see them at all given that you only have two.

No, the only problem it could cause would be algae.. but it's probably nothing to worry about.

The blue buld will really bring out the colours of your neons! I have some blue LEDs for night time and my neons and pearl gouramis look great as they reflect all that blueness.

I'd love to get a new tank and make some changes from my initial set up - an exciting time
