Hi all, I have a Juwel Rio 180 and have tried unsuccessfully twice to fit a Juwel poster background with the seaview gel. It lasts a week or so and then starts to develop bubbles from the top which eventually migrate all the way to the bottom. Any help / suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

I have mine taped to the back of the tank, and it stays nice. I would do that

I have a juwel trigon and I used the juwel poster jel. It is hard to get right this is my second time doing it.
You have probably done it correct I won't insult you but you may have missed some thing first I'll go over the steps

First make sure you can get behind the tank the more room the better.

cut the poster to size and if your rio is like the trigon the lid trim curves over the tanks glass leaving a gap on the out side about 5mm. This is about a few inches high mostly above your water level. Cut your posters height so it goes above the water by about 10 mm and enough to go lower than your gravel so you can't see any cuts or gaps though the glass.

Here was where my fist poster went wrong I left the height of the poster as it was the height of my tank, but due to the deep trim of the lid it was too hard to get a credit card up there to force any air bubbles out. Also be aware that there could be lumps of silicon there that will lift up the poster exposing it to air.

Next use all the gel any access will be pushed out later.

Use a card ( credit/store ect) to push the bubbles out to the sides and top/bottom. Don't scrap too hard as this will create lines.
Repeat this untill all air bubbles have gone.
Once done correctly you will notice how much better the poster is when using jel as opposed to it being tapped or glued particularly if it's a coloured poster. Hope it works out if there's any thing in my post your not to sure about just ask. Good luck

if the poster is not "hard" texture and sticks itself to the glass, adding onto baker's, is we are talking about the same thing. i used a spray bottle to mist the back well, the placed the back ground, getting the top of the tank in place. then going from the top down with a credit card. i find that the glue stuff is more finicky and don't use it.. sticks well. the water will be easier to get out then having hair bubbles.

if you have the "hard" plastic background then  i just tape mine on, but have all live plants that cover the back.. so i really don't see much of it, but whatever does show it fills in the gaps :p
also the bubbles that are forming are most likely because there isn't enough support to the background. so get the credit card, take the bubbles out and then tape the edges with some tape and it should solve your problem.
