I was wondering if you can put a yellow and blue tang together in a 55 gal tank? I know the blue tang will out grow the tank, but I figure it will take awhile until that happens.

both are going to get to big :( Check out a couple lfs and look at some mature tangs. They get to be good size. + swimming room.

I wish I would've done that for my angel..... now im gonna have to disrupt his life and get him back to the lfs...... when he gets bigger.

good luck! :D

for question one, they may get along with each other but there never that garentee
they will get on

for question 2, neither tang is going to servive for long in a 55 gl tank even when small they can get stressed so my andvice as of many that will agree get a bigger tank or just get something else suited to your tank size, if you have any dowts on what im saying read navarres thread on tangs its a real eye opener http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=76847

lastly which should of been first welcome to the forum everybody will help if they can so dont be afraid to ask :)

Im sorry to say the list continues Blout :-(

The Blue Ring and the Asfur died over the weekend.

I have done water changes, tested perameters etc and still i lose fish.

Supersam, HI and welcome to the forum. If you read that thread then you will see the trouble that can be caused through stocking tangs (or any inappropriate fish) in unsuitable environments. Its not just the tangs that suffer, your entire stock is at risk. From that lovely stocked tank i now have 1 emperor tang, 4 wrasses, marine beta, algae blenny and an athias. I dare not calculate the price of those fish as i am sure its extremly high.

55 Gallons is simply too small for a tang, even small ones need enormous amounts of room to swim around in so its not liekly to work. Tangs (especially the naso type) have extremly small scales and this means they are targeted far easier by the whitespot parasite as it can get under the scales far easier.

If you want an active swimmer with lots of colour then a dwarf angel is far more suited toa tank of this size.

Once again, welcome to the forum, not the answer i think you wanted to hear but im sure you will agree its better to give you honest advice rather than allowing you to hear what you want to hear :/

wow I thought I was going to have to wait a day for a response, you guys are fast.
to bad it was all bad news :( . (and I thought a 55 gallon tank was big.) Well I 'm going to have to switch to plan b. what do you guys think about 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 flame angelfish, ... well thats all I've thought of so far. what else do you guys think would fit in there?

I hope you guys don't get sick of beginners asking stupid questions.

by the way I have a emperor 400 and a seaclone 100

perfect as long as you have some rock for the flame angel to hide and swim around

every body has to start some where what would you rather do keep silent and spend loads of money for it to go wrong or ask what you think are stupid questions which are not and get a good running tank with no problems, if you dont ask you will never know :)

there is no such thing as a stupid question in this hobby!

yeah, that sounds good.

also with that, there are a lot of possible additions. a couple of
options are some green chromis(3 or more are ideal.see posts on them)
maybe one of the smaller wrasses,I have a twin spot with my perc.
and eibli angel, all get along, a goby, etc.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback on compatible additions.

good luck!

Hello again Supersam,
Much better choices for the size of tank you have

A Royal Gramma or maybe an Orchid Dottyback (not together though)

Keep asking the questions! its the fastest way to learn ;)
