Tangs And Tank Sizes

what sort of tank size would I need to comfortably keep either a lipstick tang or an Achilles tang please? just thinking longer term now the cube is running?

ACHILLES tang needs atleast 150g-200gal its a very strong swimmer so it needs the space and are very prone to white spot

lipstick tang is 180 usg minimum(assuming you mean Naso lituratus). Achilles can be kept successfully in a 4'x2'x'2 but only by experts.

achilles prefer very turbulant waters too iirc, not your average softie/ LPS tank.

I have a lip stick and achilles in my 24g. Oppps is that wrong!! ....but the guy at the LFS said it would be fine .
Seriously though there is a guy on reefvideos.com who has a 4x4x4 cube setup and it is immense!! You are talking big bucks (the pom is talking american) for a suitable reef setup containing Lip-stick and Achilles tangs.
I always end up back at plan A so much so that now I dismiss plan B even before considering it !!

No tangs really should ever be kept in anything smaller than a 5fter and thats too small really... They CAN live in smaller but its really very cruel... They are fish that love to swim a long way so anything short of 6ft is just cramping the poor thing. Obviously when small they can be kept in smaller tanks with a view to upgrading but be warned they grow quickly....

Yup i agree mate... Im not trying to say to ppl dont do it if they want to its there perogative but its just not fair on the poor little fellas.
