I took these last night , I tried to go for something slightly different to the normal shot. He`s a very easy fish to photograph.

Thats it, I'm hanging up my camera! No point in continuing with pics like that floating around the forum.
You should start up your own pinned topic "Nick SW's quality weekly photographs" each week you can have a different fish subject.

Great photographs!

Tanks (very bitter)

edit: They are stunning looking fish, how many have you got in the tank? are they W/C, or F1's

That's actually a good idea tanks - in fact so good i've pinned a new topic (not just for Nick though :p )

STOP! THIEF!!!

Thats ok Ferris I will let you have that "great" idea! Seems like it might be a bit of work for you moderating it. Just a thought! I realise that there is an area on the forum for fish profiles, but sometimes when you are lazy "like myself" and dont really have the time or the desire to sit down and write out a profile a picture can say a thousand words. Also some people might not feel like their writing skills or experience is sufficient enough to post an entire profile.

Why not make a "sub forum" above the pinned topics for a pictorial data-base of African/ old world cichlids (no writing required). Also unlike the profiles you dont have to have kept the fish yourself but the photo must be taken by you. i.e. taken in a LFS, Aquarium etc (very important thought that the identification is correct).

So it would look something like this:

African / Old Cichlid Photo Data Base (sub-forum)

>Mbuna (sub-sub-forum)
>Peacocks and Haps (sub-sub-forum)
............................>aulonocara sturtgranti (post within sub sub forum)
...........................>aulonocara hansbeatchi (post within sub sub forum)
>Tangs (sub-sub-forum)
.............................>Frontosa "burundi" (post within sub sub forum)
>All other old world cichlids (sub-sub-forum)
..............................>Kribinisisisisisis (post with sub sub forum)

etc..............................................

If it was done in a similar way to this, I can see it being far more useful as a reference tool, as in my opinion things "fish pictures" would be hard to find in one long post of pictures! Plus I think lots of people would add pictures as it doesn't involve the long process of writing a profile!

What do you think?

Remember You're the mod you can do anything you like "DO IT", ""DOOOOO ITTTTT"!! Just dont let William see!

That's exactly why i figured i'd bend the rules slightly and set this up. :good:

I like the sub-forum idea too - i will have a play. :D

Ok added some seperate pinned topics - Sub-forums can only be created by William and i'm not going to pester him for this as there are only 5 categories. There was a lot of copy and pasting involved so if anyone spots any errors - let me know. :good:

Thanks Guys, They are F1 I have this guy and 4 Juvies.
I`ll post some Pics in the new forum later :good:

Did I post this one before , anyway you might like it Tanks, It`s my WC female A.Maylandi

Dear sweet Jesus! I don't know if I am to complement you or tell you to pi$$ off!

I will go for the first one but any more photographs like this and I will be sending you a strongly worded pm.

Absolutely stunning photography! Well done and keep them coming!

Do you know the M/F ratio of the peacocks yet?

@ Ferris

Go on, you know you want to pester Williams! It would make it look very organised and professional! He might bump you up to moderator "extraordinaire"! For the moment it looks great thanks for spending the time putting it together, now to start adding pictures, "time to turn my photo-bucket upside down"!

No not yet they are very small fry (not sure if this normal?) They are growing but slower than Mbuna , I`d estimate there are 70+.

Ferris try and get the pictures as Male / Female for ID purposes as well.
