i read some where on here that these where banned now and all shops where just selling stock is this true and does it affect uk and does anybody know why i wanted to get these and can only find a few shops that sell them any thought appreciated

its only the interpet units, as they are not totally water proof (the controller)

Surely they can modify the controller,
I would hate to see these go as I have been using these for years both fresh and marine habitats.

i emailed and asked them if they were revising the item but theyre not, its a shame to see such a great item go

Ah well I have a stock of tubes, hopefully the controllers hold out until I upgrade.

Apparenlty they are continuing to make the tubes, but you can still buy that type of tube in 'daylight' and 'cool white' colours in light shops and off the net anyway (cheaper too), so nobody should run out of tubes.

It wouldn't be hard to DIY a unit either, just a cheap T5 ballast and the right socket (which could be found online, at specialist shops or taken from a broken interpet unit).

Other aquarium manufacturers still make units and tubes, and a lot of tanks use the tubes built in to the hood.

So I'm not really going to miss the interpet units .
