Hi guys

I have got a 350L tank with a Luxline Plus 30W with a condensation cover.
Is it worth to get a T5 light 54W? Can I have both ON or is it too much?
For how long it should leave ON per day?
Also I have looked somewhere saying that could kill the fish?! ...

Many thanks!

I'm no expert in lighting, but I know if you have lots of light, you will need fertilisers and, possibly, CO2 as well; this is assuming you're going for live plants!

Between six and eight hours.

I think they must have been talking about UV lights; there's no way T5 lights, on heir own, will kill fish.

If you're planning on live plants, I'd recommend the extra T5. Even some of the easiest to grow live plants will need the extra light.

A total of 84W in a 350L is 0.24W / litre which isn't too much at all and certainly will NOT kill your fish! As fluttermoth says, you probably won't be able to get away with a heavily planted tank with that light alone.

At that level of light you can get away with leaving them on for quite a long time. Reduce the light exposure if you end up getting an unhealthy explosion of algae growth!
