We`ve just bought our second tank, a seabray systemised one and would really appreciate any info or advice on running it.

We decided to give the systemised one a go instead as the sump came with it instead of having to pay out for another FX5. So far I will have matured media from my existing FX5 filter, 2X Rena smart heaters 200W, biomax media and an Ocean runner pond pump but apart from that I`m a complete novice at this type of system and would love some info so that I can make sure it`s all set up and running properly.

The stock will be Malawi so this also figured in our decision for this kind of filtration as I believe it`s more effective?

So, fo anyone else who has a systemised tank, could you please give me some advice on the best way of setting it up.... pics would be great too if anyone has some available :D

I presume no-one has ever run a systemised tank then

The systemised tanks are ones that have the sump tank underneath instead of using an internal or external filter :)

ime running a sump on my big tank and its very good but get a good condensation lid for it as there seem to evaporate a fair bit and draw a line on the sumps glass so you know were to fill it

also if in your wier id suggest using a durso or your tank will gurgle all the time :good:

Good point about the condensation, thanks :good:

Not sure what you mean about the weir though

the box in the corner im guessing theres abit of pvc in it if its just a tube straight up for the water to go into it will gargle like a sink so you fit a durso on the end and it wont gargle anymore :good:

Thanks bae, got someone coming round later to get it setup so hopefully it'll all be done well with no gargling :good:

A tank with a sump is something that demands you follow the instructions the first time. If you overfill or underfill the sump, you will quickly get into trouble from a power failure of only a few minutes. Once you catch on to how everything works as a system, they are among the best possible filters, but setting one up properly must be done with care. The overflow pattern can follow many different designs but you will only have whichever one they gave you to work with. The return pumping capacity is not as critical as many people think because the tank will quickly reach an equilibrium overflow value that matches your pump unless the pump is just too big.

"systemised tank"......that's a term I've never heard, but thanks to this thread I now know what it is :good:
