Swordtails joined forces

I have 3 swordtails..1 orange male, 1 orange female and 1 black female. The black female used to rule the tank and the male loved her she was his favorite. Now all of a sudden the male and orange female are always together and whenever the black female comes near them the male chases her away. The orange female is also aggressive towards her and when the black girl comes near her she also chases her and the black one submits and clamps her fins and shys away.

Today the black female did something really weird when the orange female chased the her she clamped her fins up and kinda became kinda stiff and swam kinda sidways. It was in a submissive way not like she was sick or anything. They do allow her to swim around the tank and everything it's just when she gets close to them they chase her.

What does all of this mean? Why has the male become so agressive towards the black female when they used to be so in love? lol Would love to know if this is just a little lovers tif and they will be back to normal soon or if this is how it's gonna be..cause I feel sorry for the black girl.

Probably just one of those things. Don't worry about it - fish have mood swings and relationships and things too you know. The orange female is just over-protective and your black female is jealous - the male is just trying to look all macho

I had a platy and a swordtail who used to be in love and the swordtail always chased a yellow mickeymouse girl away. But the orange platy was realy good friends with the yellow. When the orange one died both the swordtail and yellow platy morned over her together and now they are the best of friends.

when i had my chocolate female balloon she got picked on by jaw's mom
when i got jaws dad both of the females were fighting over the male and whenever the black female picked on the chocolate female the male attacked the black female

I didn't know fishes lives were such soap operas lol

Well they arn't hurting eachother so I'll just keep a close eye on them...I hope it's just a phase
