Hi

My male swordtail, sits on the external filter outlet pipe, all day, or he hides in the plants.

His son keeps chasing him and pecking at him.

He looks and seems so unhappy.

He only comes out for food.

If his sons pecking at him there something wrong.
Need stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Any symtoms to go on like being pale or darker in colour, is he bloated or thin.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Check the gills to see if there pale or red and inflamed.

PH -7.6 - which is the highest on the card

Ammonia - 0

Nitrite - 0

Nitrate - 10

He has got worse, as he is finding it hard to get to the surface.

I put him in a net box as the son was attacking him badly and he could not swim away.

He is laying on the bottom of the box.

No real signs.

His gone of food now.

I have done 2 small and 1 large water cahage over the last two weeks.

Could just be his time

I have noticed one of the female swords has white patches on body where her scales have peeled off. Her orange tail fin has gone clear in patches.

Right bacterial to parasite at the moment.
Do the patches just look bleached out or is there some texture to them.
Dusting, fluff, slime can you describe it.
Are the fish flicking them selfs on things.

fish are ficking.
It Just looks like she has white patches of colour. No fluff, or slime.

Her tail fin is ment to be all orange but has clear patches now.

I would try a parasite med for now it could be even bacterial as they can flick with that too.

Hi

I put parasite treatment in.

But he died. My female platy died also today.

i am going to wait a week then do water change and try bacterial med, as my female sword still has clear patches.

Ok. Bless them R.I.P.

I have put in the anti bacteria treatment. I have lost a fish to dropsy and another one has it. I am sure its dropsy as all the fins on the fishes body are sticking out. Plus she has blood streaked patches. I am hoping it will work. No signs of improvement yet. Doing second dose in a few days.

Sounds like ti was bacterial bless them.
Blood streak patches are septicemia and hard to cure once it has progressed as it blood posioning.
Best to issolate the fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank.

Ok - she died.

I have now put in parasite and internal bacteria treatment. They are sill flicking.

Ok it might be both the meds making them flick.
Good luck.
