Hello

1 of my swordtail has just had some babies. Is it ok to keep them in my community tank and leave to bio filter going???

It has plants in the tank and big piece of bog wood in there too I have no other tank at mo. Is it worth getting a breeding net (think that is what it is called) if so how do I get them in is it just with a normal fish net or use a special method???

O and what do i feed them ????

hi,
its up to you,
if you want to leave them to it you may get one or more survive, thats what i do now,
or you can get a breeder net and put some floating plants in the tank, then with a bit of luck they will be in this, then you can scoop them into the net with a clean plastic cup, then feed fine crushed up flake.
if they remain in the main tank they always find food. :)

Thanks mate

Will the filter suck any up (hope not) it is one of the jewel tanks with standard filter.

hi,
i have a juwel vision 260, i do find the odd one in the top of the filter,
so i either chase is out of the hole where the black pipe comes out or get a small cup and get it that way.
Donna :)

Is it worth trying to find some very fine netting to put over the filter inlets to stop the fry entering or is that a bad idea???

hi,
possably,
but i find juwel fillteration not the best, so id leave it open its only the odd fry that may get in , most will hide in plants in the main tank. but its up to you.
