Hey all!
Watch just checking out my little tank and noticed this,
Have 1 lone swordfish fry in there, "Saved from my big tank" and he appears to be eating little white specks off a juvenile Bristlenose Catfish
Have 2 of these guys in my tank. Both seem to have these tiny little white dots on them, Anyone know what they are?
I have a few other catfish varieties in there, But none of them appear to have any, Apart from maybe my bulldog pleco.

Here's a vid of the bristlenose & swordtail,
Sorry not the best quality, taken on my phone, But i can see tiny little white dots, and the fry was picking them off one by one

And pic of bulldog,, You can kinda just about see a couple up on his back?

Any thoughts?
Thanx
Ben

uh oh. this isnt good at all. i dont know why yuor swordtail is eating them, but i do know what those white spots are. its from a deseaise called ich. unless you dont put in any treatment, those fish will die. and why is the swortail eating them? try feeding him more. glad to help!

Hey mate, thanx for the reply, to be honest i didn't really think it was ich,, fish in my other tank have had it before and it was nothing like this,, totally baffled what it is,
i have posted another thread on this, in the emergency section of the forum with more pictures, video and info,

can be found here if you want to look

and don't worrie the baby sword gets his fair share of grub, He's one of those surviver fish against all odds! lol the rest of his brothers and sisters prob became snacks for the big fish in the other tank,
it was also more like he was just cleaning the bristle nose, like those doctor fish things to in the sea, eating parasites etc
there most of only been about 10 spec on the bristle, which he finished off!

:D

Could be ick, cant be sure as the pics are not good enough though

Doesn't look like ich to me. I wouldn't fret about it unless the fish are acting sick, or the spots get worse to be honest.

I'd keep an eye on that situation. It doesn't look like the BN really likes the idea of the fry pecking at him. If he keeps it up it might prove too stressful for the BN and result in the weakening of his immune system.
