I have some pineapple swordtails and also another color (orangish yellow with a red sword with a black line on it).  They are in the same tank together and I just wondered what color their babies would be.  I've heard the babies tend to go one way or another after a parent (so the would either be orange or pineapple colored, not mixed, if this were so) and I also heard they take after the father often because he has strong genes.  Your thoughts?

I have platies which are very closely related to swordtails (so close they can interbreed).
My breeding pair produced off-spring that were somewhere between the 2 parents. I had an all orange mum and a mainly white calico dad with some orange and black spots. Their off-spring were orange with black every time - maybe a slightly different pattern. TBH they look more like tuxedos.
Be interesting to see what you get
