I have a 30G tank with a mating pair of angels with some swordtails in it. Each time the angels lay eggs, predicatbly, they chase the other fish incessantly. It's a heavily planted tank, so it's not been a big deal till today. I saw the two angels look like they were playing ball - swimming around and around and around the tank passing something back and forth. It was small male swordtail. I distracted them with a net as soon as I saw it, and he sunk to the bottom, and started swimming in circles a bit. It took me a minute to corral the angels so I could put my hands in to get the swordtail, but I did and put him into a 2.5G hospital tank I have. I added a small filter that I keep running on a bigger tank to maintain it's cycle.

He doesn't appear to have any wounds, but he is clearly not swimming well. He may still be traumatized, though. I added a low dose of melafix, and put in some anacharis to give him some shelter, and an airstone. Anything else I should do for him?

Sounds good, just be sure that his place is quite and no one can distract him. Keep an eye on him just to be sure nothing comes up from him being stressed.

Sorry R.I.P.
