I have a planted 10 gallon for about 2 months with 3 swordtails (2 female)
have not seen 1 fry yet.

I just added some platy to the tank. I know it is only a matter of time for them cause fry was in the tank at lfs.

My question is can swordtail and platy breed or interbreed or whatever :D ?

yes, and they do so very nacely, as far as I know. :D or :-( depending on what ya want.

if the were used to cycle the tank they may of given birth to died fry and ate them or the other fish might of ate them im not sure

I have platy's and swords, and after about 7 or 8 months, I finally have a preggo platty. Mine were sick when I got them...after months of treating there healthy enough to be happy...If ur water conditions r not right platy's will not breed...

1712 posts to your name and you can't answer that?

Try google. :fun:
  What does the number of my posts have to do with anything? I dont have any experience with livebearers so I decided I would ask. Dont feel bad cause you have 122 posts.

Number of post have nothing to do with knowledge. I have given advice to people with more and less. I also have received info from people from more and less.

I been reading your posts you can google some stuff yourself., but I was on the forum  so I ask the question.

Idiot

Platies and swordies will breed....I am waiting for mine to do it right now (excuse the use of words)...

I have heard though that it is better to have swordy females and platy males....apparently the fry produced from a swordy male inside a platy female can cause problems since they are larger than the platy would normally give birth to...

I have also heard that platies will only breed to the capacity of the tank....

Apparntly my platies feel the tank isn't stocked enough....they are always at it!!

Not true at all they breed until they die ... natural instinct ... You put on male 10 female plattys in a ten gallon + daily water changes good filtration they will still have tons of babies over and over

So you think if you humans dont have the will too egt prggo fish do ??
