What is reasonable temperature range for swordtails? Some sources say 22-24C while other go up to 28C
Would slow acclimatisation to 26C be ok?

I have had much better results with swordtails and platy's at 24 to 25C.
guppies and mollies seem to do better at warmer temps than swordtails and platy's

22-24 c is ideal for these fish in the home aquaria.

However in the wild they are generally much cooler averaging 18-22.

Mine are between 23 and 24C. I have run them as low as 21C with no harm whatever but don't like being that close to their minimum. In the wild, they may well see 2 or 3C per day swings so I feel that we worry about it too much. 26C is too warm for them.

I have found that keeping them at 26C over the years, does make them very prone to internal parasites for some reason.
