Yesterday I moved 10 platy fry from my overcrowded 64L tank to a new 35L tank. Today three of them are bobbing at the surface. They're not gasping for air, just resting. They are still able to swim about for food but are struggling to swim downwards.
The fry are 1-2 months old (about a cm long). They have eaten a crushed flake 3-4 times a day and a cooked pea last night. I wondered if they might have been gulping air while feeding from flakes at the surface.
The tank is recently set up with wood, rocks, plants and cat litter substrate. Filtration is interpet mini filter with mature media and plenty of surface movement. Ammonia and nitrite tested zero this morning.
Is this likely to be a dietary problem or something wrong with the new tank?
