What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good deal. I picked this tank up dirt cheap, a guy had bought it for its contents, but didn't have the space for it. I think its a 150 gallon... 6' L x 26" high x 18" W

It was a very neglected saltwater tank, and as you can see, everything 'grew in' nicely... I see where someone started to clean it with a razor blade, but was scratching it up in the process (that will be the back.. lol)

Any ideas on how to get this cleaned up so I can use it for... umm... well, I haven't gotten that far yet. might accidently have to get back in to discus....

is it like caked on their, or is it like mushy , kinda looks like spray paint

Looks like the previous fish were "done away with" in the most horrific way!!

I'd pour bleach in that tank to see if that helps to strip it.

Sno-Bowl toilet bowel cleaner. This is a word of warning; take this seriously. It is concentrated hydrochloric acid, wear heavy rubber gloves, long sleeves, and goggles. It will eat away skin & clothes, and the fumes can cause serious respiratory problems. Use this in a well ventilated area, outdoors is best. Rinse it with a hose for about a half hour when done, and go easy around any silicone.

I have several tanks that have been cleaned this way, I learned this trick from an old discus breeder who is nearly 80 years old.

turn it into a saltwater tank and show off the coraline algae  scraping off coraline isnt that hard, just spray it down with water and keep it moist. use a window scraper with a sharp razor blade on it and scrape away.

well, a couple hours in to it... slow going but it is coming along...

might be hope for this tank yet. good thing I only have $50 in to this thing

never mind the mess in the backround... its water change day for the 300 gal. in the backround as well...

As for the previous inhabitants, I don't know much about saltwater but they are all alive and doing well in their new home (240 gallon I think), as well as some pretty impressive looking coral (sorry, I didn't bring a cam.) I don't think that just because one doesn't scrape a tank and keep them immaculate, that fish are nessesarily neglected. this thing had a 100 gallon sump, and an entire box of pumps and other goodies. Im not very good at getting around to taking the aglea off the front of my tank either Its a 2 hour process, and involves getting soaked and some weeks, I just don't get to it., but with 2 FX5 filters, and weekly water changes... my water quality is spotless... just a little harder to see the tank sometimes..

well... severall hours of scrubbing later.... its a fish tank again.. did find a chip... but it does hold water...
