swapping filters

at the moment i have a Fluval 3+ internal filter in my 126 litre tank, i am going to be buying a Eheim Professional 2322 Thermofilter, but was wondering how to swap them over?

do i run both together for a while to get the bacteria into the new filter?
do i put the fluval media into the new filter?
would it fit?

any advice would be grateful as i dont want to harm my fish.

Personally I would (and have in the past) put the filter sponges from the fluval into the bottom chamber of the new one and run it like that for a few weeks, then replace the fluval sponges with the ehiem media.

Both those ideas will accomplish the same task.
