So I have 3 bettas at home atm, over the holidays.
Rufus who lives at work, Lotus who is chewing his tail to shreds, and Peacock who has stress stripes unless I cover the tank.
Do you think if I swapped rufus and lotus for a week, it might perk lotus up a bit and stop him biting?
If so, would I have to acclimatise them or could I move them straight over, say in a jug? The tanks are exactly the same model, so it would just look like a major rescape to them.
Thanks :)

They sound like Betta's inside of a Aslyum

Yea you would have to acclimatise them.. because your going to take them on a jounry to your work area xD

And hav'nt you got a fish bag for them? o_O

But all the fish are at home at the moment for the holidays, not at work.

I would have thought that if tanks have the same pH and temperature then you wouldn't need to acclimatise them. Similar levels of nitrate would also probably help prevent any shock. Sounds like a good plan to see if it stops your betta tail biting.

i personally would still acclimatise them. bettas are very finicky with shock etc.

other fish i just move over, but a betta i wouldnt risk

I know Knox, I do seem to get the nutters  They are all in filtered, heated 5 gall well planted tanks though, so much better conditions than a lot of bettas get :/

In theory if tanks are same water and temperature parameters, then you should be able to just swap them over. but if you want to be on the safe side, then bag them up and gently acclimatise

I Know For a fact you a good betta keeper. And have provided them ( and spoilt them ) :p

There own personal tanks with plants etc xD

Better then a cup in the shops.

id be inclined to just swap them over if the conditions are similar. the fish should be perfectly fine, if not a bit confused b their new digs:)
if you want to acclimate them, you dont really need a bag to do it. any small container that will float will do the job (like a Styrofoam cup, plastic container, etc. and you wouldnt need a "true" acclimation as they are used to the water conditions anyway. seems like more of a hassle than it might be worth (and would prob stress the fish out MORE than just making the switch).
cheers
