hey everyone i was wondering if anybody has done a swamp like tank. i was going to make one out of a nanocube i had. i do have a drawing and i will put it up if anybody wants to see it, but wut kind of fish should i put in it. i was also thinking like maybe a crayfish or some other shrimp but i wouldnt want the crayfish to eat the fish. any ideas are welcome.

A swamp tank will, by neccesity, have really acidic water/low PH.

Your best bet would be either Bettas or the tiny Boraras species I think. Rasboras and Tetras in general will work good as well. Avoid all livebearers.

I think there are plenty of shrimp species which work in acidic water, but I'm pretty sure most species of snail will have their shells dissolve.

If it were me I'd try and set this up with a land bit and include a small frog or two, and maybe a small land snail. Honestly though, your water isn't going to be clear, so be prepared for an interesting, but not very appealing looking, tank.

not sure if it would work to well in a nano cube bt the gf and i were thinking of doing it with our 4 footer once, we wre going to add lots of lbog wood to darken the water some floating duck weed, and a sandy botom with some specied of rasbora in there it wouldn`t be an authentic biotope but it would have looked swampy

I love swamp tanks, they aren't your average aquarium. I saw one swamp tank online, they can be pretty awesome if they're done right.

The tank that I saw was a standard sized 55 gallon tank, filled about 4/5 of the way with water. The substrate was crushed up oak leaves and some peat. There was tons of bogwood that rose above the water line. The water was pretty dark as you would imagine. For plants there was some Myriophyllum matogrossene and some duckweed. The filter was a fluval canister with spray bar to replicate the standing water of a swamp.

There were many different species of killifish.

That tank inspired me to do a swamp tank but never got around to doing it.
