My dwarf gourami susan has a very bloated body and seems to have trouble swiming with it.
Is there any thing that this could be? Sorry i dont have a pic i cant find my dongle.

Cheers guys

Need water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, sounds like swim bladder or it could be constipation, try shelled peas and frozen daphnia for nowI if it is swim bladdder very hard to cure.

Actually tried the dapnia but no joy. I found poor susan dead this morning. Is Karl, her male counter part going to be ok on his own? or will he be an emotional wreck just like i am at the momment.

Sorry R.I.P.

sorry to hear about susan....rip little fish
it could well have been the early signs of dropsy ( internal infection) & in my experience it is impossible to treat esp here in the uk where we have to get a vet for antibiotics for a fish. we've had a few fish over the years die from dropsy but it doesnt seem to spread say like ich. or it could have been some nasty swimbladder infection.but you need to make sure your water is kept clean & all parametres are normal & if not do some little water changes. are you doing regular water cahnges now???
hope Karl likes his new girlfriend.

Cheers millym, I do a weekly water change of about 20%. Gotta get to my fish shop to check the parameters.
I do know that nitrate is 0 and my PH is about 7.5

Would adding some anti biotic to the tank such as Myxazin help control future out breaks or is this just medicating for the skae of it.
