Kita found a way to keep himself occupied. He'll swim next to the filter then swim against the current. Come around the front and do it again He'll also stop swimming and then let himself get sucked back for a second before taking off. What a nerd.
My other boy on the other hand is not too impressed with his filter haha
And dont worry, they are "gentle" filters so there isn't much water movement
Mine do this too ^^. My plakat in particular. His shorter finnage also allows him to cope with current better . His filter is a Fluval 1, and if he swims into the current he is blown towards the back a bit, but the rest of the tank around the current is calm, especially near the surface ( the filter is low down as the tank is a little deep , and it picks up detritus better down near the bottom ) so he can still make his bubblenests without trouble
i have homemade sponge filters in both my betta tanks and my little guy LOVES to ride around in the bubbles...my older boy is much less impressed by them
they are funny little creatures!
