Hey everyone, I just cleaned all of my betta water, and there was this film-like stuff on the surface. Was this a mini-bloom of some sort? The water parameters are fine, but I'm wondering if (since I'm in a new room in the apartment with two windows) the light is causing this.

Have you added anything to the water? I assume you use dechlorinator, but are you using anything else? Did the film appear after the betta had been in the water for awhile?

take a turkey baster and blow a bubble underneath it. does some whitish grey solid fall down to the bottom when the bubble pops?

Do you use any air fresheners in your house like Fabreeze, Lysol?

The only kind of film stuff I have seen on a tank was a protien layer. Do you feed live or frozen foods?

Hmm...not sure what it is. When you find out let me know. Because, sometimes i get that too. What size tanks do you have.

No air fresheners or anything like that. It has been unusually hot this week (mid-90's in central PA) and people have been saying they haven't seen weather this hot in a long time, so maybe that has something to do with it. It's cooled off and now there doesn't seem to be a problem.
