Hi

I have setup my 110litre tank which currently has an eheim 2010 internal filter which is not very attarctive sitting there in the tank. So I brought a brand new Superfish Aqua Pro 200 external filter.

The filter comes with very poor instructions but I managed to set it up. I have checked the impeller is seated properly and no leaks and managed to get the air out but the motor seems to be quite loud. If I take off the pipe end bits (spray bar etc) then it will go quite after priming it a few times but when i put the end bits back on the it gets louder again. Has anyone else had any experience using this filter????

Also do the pipes have to be going straight up to the tank, because I havent cut the pipes incase I ever require the length.

Don't know this exact filter but have used alot of externals over the years. In is the biggest cause of a noisey unit. Self priming is best done with the pump off, but can also be done when it is running. Turning off/on quickly a few times can also help, as can tipping the filter to each side gently. The spray bar puts a little back pressure onto the unit but shouldn't be making it noisey as it is designed to work with it. If you can be sure all the air is purged, and can't get it quiet with the spray bar on then I would be contacting your supplier for some help. Oh, 1 more thing. New foam can be difficult to saturate, it is worth soaking it in aquarium water, giving it a few squeezes underwater before placing it in the filter as wet as possible.
