Its about time too, just been to The Tropical Team its owned by Tom Halvorsen (http://www.tomhalvorsen.co.uk), they are situated 11th Avenue North Team Valley Gateshead NE11 0JY just across the way from another awesome marine aquatic store Cyber Aquatics (http://www.cyberaquatics.com) i cant say how chuffed i am that i now have all i need on my doorstep and the way they work is superb for both the customer and the livestock..

I went today to purchase clown loach as they have a few fantasic healthy looking specimens but upon bagging them for me he noticed 1 tiny white spot on the tail (i didnt notice it) and refused to sell me them until he had treat them (thats a first from any local store ive been to) although he will keep them for me once treat, all his tanks are individually filtered and contain some awesome specimens of tropical and coldwater fish not to mention his more exotic reptiles..

Really friendly approach and fantasic experiance for myself and the kids, i feel when a shop doesnt live upto its rep people should know but i also feel when a shop exeeds your expectations you should sing their praise from the roof tops..

10/10 for knowlege, customer service, care of stock and variation of species..

(btw i didnt get my clown loach this week but did leave with a couple exellent bristlenose plecs, and the finest quality neon tetras ive found)

Simply Awesome...... i can see them being around for a long time :good:

On the note of new shops opening ( I know it should be in a different section of the site) The Aquarium has re-opened in Lincoln off Outer Circle Road near Charles Warner.

That's where I've ordered my King Stripes from (L066)

Noticed in there he has some great seahorses and brittle stars etc. (reef a bit too technical for me) and a lot of decent out of the ordinary but not overly rare fish

He's also the one who guided me to the tropical house in Lincoln to rehome my ever grwing common plecs now there too big for my tank.

10/10. Christmas come early for me cos all we had before was Pets at Home (never buying fish there again)and 1 other pet shop with about 10 tanks full of the normal everyday fish, still a good store unlike Pets at Home but your not gonna find anything you can't find everywhere else

Yippee

is that anywhere near the metro centre? im about 1 1/2 hour drive, Does anyone know how long a fish can safely kept in a transport bag?

I carried fish back about 2.5 hours or so drive last week and they acclimated and are doing fine in my community tank. If you tell them you're travelling a bit further they can double bag them etc to make things a bit better for transport.

Hi straight down the A69 join the A1 carry straight on (southbound) past the metrocentre once you pass then its the 3rd exit (B1426) signposted team valley retail world continue until the roundabout then turn right along kingsway north going straight over the 1st roundabout until you come to the main roundabout for retail world DONT TURN RIGHT, just carry on straight ahead on Kingsway South you then want the last left turn (Eleventh Avenue) before the next roundabout that links back up to the A1, travel up eleventh ave for about 300yds then take your 1st left into the units on jedburgh crt. and its the 2nd right, its located at the top of the units on you right (they are open until 4pm sat sun and again weekdays although they are closed monday if i remember rightly).

Worth a trip (some fish may be more expensive than others) their range of L plecs are a great size and very healthy but the price reflects this although he is getting smaller examples later in the week for us to grow on ourselves.
If you go check out the caimen its a real corker, he has an exellent range of loaches including lizard loaches (getting a few for myself) to clowns if he hasnt got it i bet he can, I spent ages checking his tanks as he only opened on friday so all wernt labelled up, each time i looked i spotted something new.

In cupar though, so it's miles away from anywhere! ha!...and that's like then only decent one in the east!

What's happened UA?

greg

Have you been to The Aquarium in Falkirk Greg?? its not very big but they do carry some oddballs, there also opening a new place in Dunfermline , there tanks are always clean and never seen a dead fish in there yet, every fish iv had from there have been really healthy and still thriving :D

ye the one in the industrial estate? It's not bad, clean and everything. Just some fatal mistakes tbh- like firebelly newts in with tropical fish. Some lovely massive catfish in there though. Too many platties etc.

have yet to find a good shop for cihclids in the east... apart from UA.

Kevstir, have you come across any decent places through our way selling cichlids (especially tanganyikans)?

cheers

Sorry m8 iv not really been looking into cichlids apart from Blue Rams lol, i would have said the Aquatic rooms in Edinburgh but i noticed on your other thread you have already been there lol.

Yeah i did notice the newts but the last time i was in they had a tank all to there own , they have also just set up a betta tank that's all divided, much better setup than Riversides in Stirling where they have all there bettas in little pots that must not hold more that a can of juice
