super fry

I was just wondering, my first batch of fry are about 2 months old. One of them was the biggest, his tail started turning red and black, and now the colors have gone up the side of his body with black dots and a red slash. The others are just starting to get color in their tail fins, but not on body and their gondo isn't big like his. This guy is a good 2-3 weeks ahead of the program, has gondo that moves around and everything. He looks like a mini adult. I'm hoping the others will start getting body color this week. I also have a runt that's way smalller than the rest, not just length, but also he's thin. He gets kinda fat after I feed, but then thin again. The others are thinck and look like they have a basketball under their shirt! I've been thinking of putting him to sleep or giving away so the runt doesn't get any one prego. What do yall think? Ditch the runt? Do you ever get one super fry? Should I breed him since he seems so strong? The mom died after birth of 25, but she looked like a purple dragon female. Got her from lfs and I see babies with blue and green too, but the super baby's more red than anything. Very mixed batch of colors and patterns!

I never kept my runts. I basically figured that they may grow, but at a very slow rate. Or they may grow as a diformed adult.

I have kept a few of my runts.
Oh,and keith, I have had a couple of super fry too! They turned out to be great!

I just noticed 4 of my male fry's gondos are getting big and thier tale and dorsal fins are colorful, but still just body color on the one superfry. When will they get body color now that they are at that stage? In the next week? How long behing does this second waive really come into their own like super fry?

The runt is still thin, stays close to the bottom, and he keeps his tail pointed. What does that mean? He doesn't look stressed, and is eating, ect, but I just don't know if this guy has what it takes. He's more than half the length of the other fry but I would say 1/3 as fat. The word fat can't really be used in a sentence describing him at all. His eyes are all black too. What does all of this mean?

I had a few runts before that did eat, but not alot. It was hard to tell, but it may have been spiting it's food. It was also a little active, but not like the rest. Eventually, it died.

So I guess it's up to you. You can continue the feedings and hope it will survive, otherwise, you can put it out of it's misery, maybe feed it to the bigger fish.

I usually cull the runts. I give them a couple months to try to catch up in size but after that I get rid of them. When they are that small they have a tendency to die early anyways.
