if you put clothes of him, he will either pull it off or he will prance about wagging his tail and looking very pleased with himself.

Cute yeah.
But in my opinion the poor dog would look better without all the human stuff attached.
A dog should be treated with respect and care just like anyhting else. But it should also be treated like a dog, not a surrogate child.
I aint having a go at anyone, thats just my opinion

First of all, very cute!

I don't think it's cruel to the dog if its something simple like a shirt or one of those vest coats or hiking packs, or those little shoes for really cold weather, but not those really nasty costumes that prohibit movement.

Besides, dressing up a dog isn't nearly as cruel as dressing up a cat, you put something on them and they just fall over and lay there until you take it off, now THAT is cruel... (though funny, but still, not right....)
