As per title. I decided not to buy some new fish as my main tank is over-crowded anyway, so I transfered 5 black neon tetras to my betta's tank.

Before catching the black neons, I previously tried removing my poor little female gourami from the main tank, where she is being harrassed (she isn't growing like the others and fin-clamps a lot, I think from nerves). Unfortunately, Sumo took one look at her and started displaying like crazy and terrified the poor creature even more! She's back in the main tank but I'm going to have to make some arrangements for her soon.

It was a nightmare catching the black neons, so I'm not going into that, and they had a bit of problems with the pH difference (I forgot to check before transfering them and had to drop the pH and KH in the small tank, with peat-filtered water, to stop them all head-standing). The worse bit was when I thought I only had 4 black neons and re-loaded the main tank with ornaments and plants, before seeing a lone black neon in the middle of it!

Sumo was less than impressed and there has been quite a bit of chasing going on, but I don't think it's anything more than posturing. He grew up a community fish so I think he should be OK. Otherwise, I'll just have to get another tank
;)

Would it be better to have a full school of black neons, or is 5 adequate? I'm a bit concerned about adding a soul black neon but the tank is too small for a lot of fish.

Back in the main tank things seem to be calming down again. It always makes me nervous when I make any changes. Next week, I'll have to do something about my gouramis and I've got a problem with a cardinal tetra (see other post). But I think it's getting better all the time (I hope).
