Suitable Sized Filter For A 4 Gallon Tank

I have a Juwel 1 filter in my 4 gallon tank, 8"d8"h16"w.
I am using this as my hospital tank but I am finding that the current it is producing is quite quick and for ailing fish it might not be the best. I did have the water coming out along the 16" length of the tank but have changed it to the 8" depth which does reduce the flow but I am worried about the pressure on the glass.
Is there a smaller filter that I can use? Thanx Xanthe

A sponge filter, possibly, pretty good bio filtration, not much current, if a little noisy.

I'd go with a sponge filter also. Simple and cheap if you have an extra air pump.
