ok i have a 240 litre tank which i was gonna keep corys/loaches only and then realised the top to middle of tank might be bit empty, anyone any ideas what else to stock? want something different from the usual neons etc. i've read in a few places thats angels may be ok?

thanks

You could go with some angels if you wanted sure, but be careful cause they can get big. Otherwise a few other options include some types of danios, leopard are my personal favourite, lemon and glowlight tetras are always an option, you could try some type of gourami, if you could find a nice opal, pearl, or blue or even more than one, they would look great too!

good shout with the gouramis, i am still keen on angels but heard they can be agressive when pairing off/spawning

Pencilfish are a good option for Corydoras, they will use the upper water and will act as great dithers for the catfish. I've had 6 Beckfordi Pencilfish for little over a month and they have a curious social structure, sometimes schooling altogether and other times a lot of chasing going on!

never thought of pencilfish. i think ive settled on gouramis, pencilfish and other community fish. my lfs has some banded pygmy floating loach which are small and occupy mid level of the tank
