i called all petshops i could find and none had cockatoo cichlids im looking for something of color and small and just cool looking. any suggestions?

If you talk to a small lfs, they'd probably be willing to get you any fish you want, for a price.

Liveaquaria has them, but the price is a little high... Any chance that you could special order them?

How about rams? Colorful and would work well in the 20 gallon tank.

50 dallors for 2 wow i guess i would spend it but what if they die and i dont have a credit card i already have 2 rams, people say they will fight if i get more

Research them first but:

Bolivian rams
Checkerboard cichlids
Golden-eyed dwarf cichlids
three-striped dwarf cichlids
mackmaster's dwarf cichlids
agassiz's dwarf cichlids

All those are colorful neotropical cichlids...

Kribs,congo dwarf cichlids and african butterfly cichlids are small african cichlids.

Then there's shell-dwellers... n. multifasciatus being my favourite and the smallest and shellies are deffinately cool-looking

It all depends on what else is going to be in the tank and what sort of water parameters you have as the first few need soft water and the africans vary but are mostly quite hardwater fish. And also your substrate, decor etc...

Research first.

Blue rams are not as hardy as apistos, bolivian rams are hardier although they get a bit larger at 4 inches I guess live aquaria is out of the question then
Sorry to hear you can't get them ATM , if they ever do pop up, snatch them before someone else does, they are great fish

Oh, sorry. I read your sig incorrectly.

I'd suggest just getting more neons. You only have two, and they are very colorful (which was one of the reasons you wanted the cichlids).

what about a red tailed shark? too big? is it going to eat more other fish? or a red finned shark?

I, personally, would not put a 4+" fish in a 20 gallon tank unless it was for breeding.

I still thik you should get a school of neons instead of having only two of them.

I agree 100%. Getting some more neons would be your best option. Another 4-6 would make for a very nice tank.

-2 otos
-3 neons
- and 2 leapord danios only if they scoal wiht my zebras
fix the list to fit my tank
